Here at the Liberty Recruitment Group, we are excited to formally invite you to our 2024 Liberty HR Conference which will be held on Thursday 3rd October @ The Village Hotel, Portsmouth – from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

This event will be our fourth conference – now the biggest HR conference outside of London – and is entitled “HR Together – Working For A Brighter, Kinder Future”.

The day will include themes suggested to us by attendees from previous events. So, our speakers will cover various topics such as Mental Health, ED&I, Recruitment, A.I. and more…

We are currently working on our usual ‘A-list’ of the most stimulating and relevant guest speakers for the event, to ensure you all get the very most out of the day. We will publish more details as soon as these special guests are finalised but are SO excited to announce that our very first confirmed knockout guest-speaker, is a true heavyweight in every sense!

The one-and-only Frank Bruno MBE will be joining us to talk about his journey from being a bona-fide national treasure and world champion boxer to a champion campaigner on the issue of mental health.

Our next special guest is now confirmed to be Samantha Renke – who is an actress, presenter, newspaper colu, nist, speaker, writer and disability rights campaigner. You may recognise her from episodes of BBC Morning, ‘Loose Women’, ‘Rip-Off Britain and from a fabulously funny Maltesers advert on TV to name but a few! Samantha will present a session entitled “Disability In The Workplace – Breaking The Silence” on behalf of our great friends at Toucan Diversity CIC. There will then be a Q&A session with the Toucan team where you can ask ANY question you have ever wanted to ask, but have been afraid to do so until today! Nothing is off-limits and the team will be doing their level best to dispel myths, to educate us all a little and to eradicate the awkwardness we often feel about disability…it’s guaranteed to be an eye-opening session!

We will be hearing from Chris Britton – People Experience Director, Reward Gateway.

Chris leads all the employee lifecycle activities at RGER. From attraction and recruitment, through to learning and performance, DE&I and wellbeing. Chris is an author, blogger, podcast host and all round champion of human health and wellbeing. In his talk, Chris will share a deeply personal story and how that has shaped his view on the importance of seeing the whole human being in the workplace.

We are also hosting an Employment Law “Fishbowl” session with Kathryn Evans – Partner & Head of Employment Law at Trethowans. As you will probably already know, Trethowans has five offices across the South employing around 250 staff and 55 partners. Kathryn has worked as in house Employment Counsel, in local government and in private practice. Kathryn is described as ‘one of the team’ by a number of her HR clients. She works across most industries from alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and fashion to manufacturing, professional services and property. Kathryn is a strategic problem solver, helping her clients get to where they want to be. Kathryn is direct, passionate and easy to deal with.

In this “Fishbowl” sessions, attendees will be given an opportunity to ask Kathryn any question they want. This could relate to the new obligations on employers to prevent sexual harassment; what’s in the legal pipeline for us all; or just sharing some “war” stories (on a no names basis of course) – so this WILL be a great session for sure

In addition, we will have Chris Britton joining us. Chris is People Experience Director at the Reward Gateway and he leads all the employee lifecycle activities at RGER.

And our final speaker of the day will be Mark Hamilton-Taylor. Mark will deliver a stimulating and thought-provoking session entitled; “Leveraging Neurodivergent Talent for a Brighter, Greener Future”

Mark is a leading authority in ESG, social impact, and neurodiversity, and the founder of The Social Impact Academy. With over two decades of experience working with prominent global organisations like FedEx, Premiership football clubs, Google, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Mark is an expert in aligning business success with social responsibility. Diagnosed with Asperger’s at 48, Mark’s personal journey—fuelled by witnessing his own children’s struggles within the traditional education system—inspired him to deeply explore neurodiversity. This journey led him to become an advocate for creating inclusive workplaces that embrace neurodivergent talent.

In his talk, Mark will emphasise the immense value neurodivergent individuals bring to the workplace, particularly as lateral thinkers, problem solvers, and innovators. He will delve into how neurodivergent talent could be the key to achieving Net Zero goals. Drawing from his own experiences and sharing insights from companies like JP Morgan Chase, Rolls-Royce, JLR, and AXA, Mark will illustrate how these organisations have successfully integrated neurodivergent talent, leading to productivity gains of up to 140%. These companies, however, are looking to push these efforts even further and are actively engaging with Mark and his team at The Social Impact Academy.

Attendees will leave with valuable insights into how embracing neurodiversity can drive sustainability, productivity, and meaningful social impact within their organisations!

As we did last year, there will be only 120 places available – with an ‘Early Bird’ offer of £35.00 per ticket if purchased before 31st August (thereafter £40.00 per person). This cost has been heavily subsidised by us at Liberty HR. We will also be contributing funds to our annual charity, which this year is Education Business Partnership South.
