Last week the Liberty team closed the office on Friday lunchtime to spend a little quality time together. We’d recently celebrated our second anniversary as a business and also set up our brand-new Commercial division, so felt it was time we switched off for a while and took some time out.
We had all been on team-building/bonding days before and wondered what we could do to get away from the norm and it was somehow decided we should enrol ourselves on a pasta-making day…and what a time we had!
Our host – Daniel, from the marvellous Southsea Deli in Elm Grove – started the proceedings off by plying us with beer and wine (intuitively he somehow knows his audience!) before he started teaching us how to make pasta from scratch.
None of us had ever made pasta before yet, somewhat miraculously – and after a great deal of mess was created – we all ended up with a ball of pasta dough each. Whilst the dough chilled, more wine was consumed and we made two delicious fillings of spinach and ricotta and mozzarella and tomato.
Then we moved onto making our filled ravioli and tortellini, ready for cooking (see pictures of Abby’s handiwork!). Daniel was an expert tutor, making the process look much easier than it was (it reminded us older ones of an episode of the Generation Game at times) before he cooked our pasta and, along with more wine, we ate the fruits of our labour!
It was a fun (pasta-and-wine) filled afternoon and we would thoroughly recommend the Southsea Deli (and Daniel’s tutoring skills) to anyone who fancies doing something a little different…they also make delicious coffee, pastries and savoury snacks if you’re ever passing!
We’re now thinking we’ll have team-building events every year…whilst wondering how we’re ever going to top this one!
